The pristine waters off Merimbula are the perfect place for whale watching. Many species of whales can be sighted throughout the year including Humpbacks, Southern Rights, Minke, Bryde’s, Blue and Orcas whales.

However it is the annual migration of the Humpback whales that is the most spectacular. Humpbacks can be sighted on their Northern Migration May through to July, however, it is their Southern Migration when the fun really begins!!

From September through to early December large numbers of humpback whales travel past Merimbula. In the waters of the Sapphire Coast they can be seen lateral lunge feeding, one of the few places in the world where humpbacks can be observed doing this!! A sight not to be missed!! Mothers and their young calves also provide hours of entertainment as they play in the Merimbula Bay.

Many other sea creatures are seen on our cruises, including Common & Bottlenose Dolphins, Australian Fur Seals, penguins, flying fish, sunfish, turtles and many species of sea birds.

Merimbula Marina offer regular whale watching cruises from May through to December.

Trips depart from the Public Jetty, Market St. Merimbula, NSW. Parking is available behind the Lakeview Hotel.

Have a light breakfast/meal before travelling and visit your chemist/health food store to ask their advice if in doubt of travel sickness.
